Lana Del Rey has said she's retiring a 2012 song that has an indirect reference to Harvey Weinstein017 Archives following the sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape accusations surrounding the Hollywood movie mogul.
SEE ALSO: Quentin Tarantino says he knew about Harvey Weinstein's abusesDel Rey told MTV the song "Cola," from the ParadiseEP will no longer be part of her live performances. She also confirmed the song has a Weinstein-kind of reference:
When I wrote that song, I suppose I had a Harvey Weinstein/Harry Winston-type of character in mind. I envisioned, like, a benevolent, diamond-bestowing-upon-starlets visual... something like a Citizen Kaneor something. I’m not really sure. I thought it was funny at the time, and I obviously find it really sad now. I support the women who have come forward. I think they’re really brave for doing that.

The artist, who will hit the road in January 2018 for her L.A. to the Moon Tour, said she didn't feel "comfortable" singing "Cola" after the deluge of allegations against Weinstein surfaced in the past few weeks.
"I thought it was funny at the time and I obviously find it really sad now," Del Rey said.

The song's pre-chorus lyrics read:
Ah, he's in the sky with diamonds and he’s making me crazy
(I come alive, alive)
All he wants to do is party with his pretty baby
But as Chris Mench, news editor at Genius.com, a website that provides lyrics and annotations for songs, noted in a blog post, the first line -- "Ah, he's" -- reallysounds like "Harvey."
"Upon the song's release, the lyric 'Ah, he’s in the sky with diamonds' was transcribed by Genius contributors as 'Harvey’s in the sky with diamonds,'" he wrote.
"The lyrics were later changed to 'Ah, he’s' to reflect the official lyrics listed in Born To Die: The Paradise Editionand Paradise EPdigital booklets on iTunes."
Other lyrics in the song hint at Weinstein:
“I got a taste for men who are older.
It’s always been, so it’s no surprise,”
A report in Page Six, quoting unnamed entertainment industry sources, allege Weinstein went nuts when he heard about the lyrics and asked for his first name to be removed:
“Harvey went bananas and insisted Del Rey change the lyrics, which she did, removing Harvey’s name, so the line now goes, “Ah he’s in the sky with diamonds and he’s making me crazy.”
