Election Day is Watch The Butcher, the Chef, and the Swordsman Onlinehere and this year, things are getting interesting.
There are real time projections that are breaking all the rules, live blogs to keep you up to speed with every tidbit of information and, of course, old school exit polls.
If you are ready to mix it up, here are a few ways to follow the election throughout the day.
One particular tool is making traditional political watchers anxious. Vice (live video), Slate (voter data) and Vote Castr are joining up for a unique approach of making projections throughout the day as data like demographic and voter turnout roll in.
The project has made some nervous, with the thinking being that this kind of information could alter voter turnout. Ken Goldstein, of the University of San Francisco and a member of ABC News' Decision Desk, put it succinctly to the New York Times: “I’m profoundly uncomfortable with characterizing election results during Election Day."
As Politcopoints out this is option that may render exit polls moot for the day.
Of course, others are excited by the approach. Ken Smukler, founder of VoteCastr, said it's merely an effort of transparency, telling the Timesin a questionable metaphor, "We’re flipping up the kimono and letting people see what campaigns do on Election Day."
So now that FiveThirtyEight's pre-Election Day projections are done, you have a new source to cause you panic throughout the day.
There are a bevy of live blogs across the web that will enable you to track what's happening on Election Day, but there are a few that bear watching over others.
Start with our own live blog here at Mashable. It won't be your typical live blog but, then again, this is not a typical election. From Lite Brites to Lady Gaga to "mazel tov cocktails," we'll try to cover it the way it deserves.

If you are looking for more traditional coverage andcoverage that will soothe your anxious mind about results and projections, FiveThirtyEightis up and running all day with data goodness and looks at how voter turnout could affect results around the country.
One of the hot topics this election cycle has been issues while voting. From long lines in early voting, to a major party candidate making allegations everything is rigged, to voter intimidation, it's shaping up to be a very interesting Election Day.
So Pro Publicahas launched Electionland which will track voter issues, like broken voting machines and long lines, throughout the day, including tons of interactive features and data.
If you just can't give up the traditional approach on Election Day — exit polls — there are still plenty of options. While the television networks will be using their traditional exit polls, the Associated Press will also be publishing their traditional findings. And Politicoand Morning Consultwill continue to publish their exit poll findings.
Watch for these results to publish throughout the day.
