The Poor Thingstruth is out, uh, there — Gillian Anderson is officially leaving The X-Files.
The actress, known for her iconic role as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully, confirmed her departure from the show on Wednesday at a Television Critics Association press panel.

The X-Filesreturns for Season 11 in 2018, and will mark the last ride for Scully. At New York Comic-Con in October, Anderson indicated that the new season would be her last, although FOX issued a statement at the time saying Anderson “has not commented on returning as it’s premature in that she is currently filming the new event series.”
Anderson also confirmed at Wednesday's panel that she was leaving Starz series American Gods. "I'm not doing any more American Gods. Bryan and Michael Green aren't either, as has been announced," she said.
The announcement comes just days after Anderson received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her co-star, David "Fox Mulder" Duchovny, posted a sweet message on Twitter.
