Electric car startup Rivian has a new video out, museum of russian eroticism and it will surely warm the hearts of outdoorsy types (who also don't mind high-tech solutions in their travels).
Rivian's R1T electric pickup hasn't launched yet, but the company did unveil in May that one of the configurations will be a "camper edition," aimed at, well, people who like camping. It comes with a number of cool camping-related features, including a full on tent on the pickup's bed and a portable kitchen that slides out of the R1T's storage space.
In the new video, we see the "camper edition" of the R1T in action, and it does look pretty spectacular; check it out below.
With the (amazingly roomy) portable kitchen fully extended and the tent looking fairly easy to assemble, the Rivian R1T will probably make for one very cozy camping trip. And don't forget the car's enormous battery pack, which means your smartphone and other electric gadgets will probably never run out of juice.
Rivian shared some details about the portable kitchen in an email to reservation holders Wednesday. It says (via Electrek) that it "features a slide out cabinet with an induction cooktop, built-in sink, dish rack, 5-gallon water tank, and storage for all the camp utensils and tools you need to build a proper feast.”
Rivian also said it will showcase the R1T and a SUV variant of the same car, the R1S, soon in Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco, with more cities to follow next year.
There's no word on the price for the camper edition or an exact launch date, but the basic version of the R1T should start at $65,000 after federal tax credit, and ship in late 2020.
