As July 16 creeps ever closer,To Be Twenty (Avere vent’anni) HBO continues to tease us with maddeningly vague snippets of footage from Game of Thrones Season 7, while we continue to desperately dissect each new shot for clues.
SEE ALSO: New 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 photos show Jon Snow ready for warThe latest video comes courtesy of HBO Spain, after the network hosted a pop-up exhibit in Madrid that allowed fans to get a sneak peek at Season 7. Luckily for all of us who can't hop over to Spain right now, HBO posted footage of what the fans were seeing to their Facebook page.
Here's what we can glean from the new shots -- if you blinked, you might've missed the clues.
This indistinguishable fellow is wearing the robes of a maester, and he's surrounded by ancient-looking texts -- so it's a safe bet that he's in the Citadel at Oldtown, which should play a major role in Season 7 now that Samwell is there. The maester's face is too blurry to make out, but it could be Jim Broadbent, who is playing an archmaester in the new season.
There's nothing terribly remarkable about this shot of Daenerys slowly standing, except that she looks like she's about to go "dracarys" on someone -- and judging by the similarity between the background in this shot and the one below, we might have a clue who her target is.
There are plenty of shots of battles between the Lannister army and Dany's Unsullied and Dothraki forces in the new footage, and we know from the Season 7 trailer that there's at least one fight between Dany and the Lannisters that takes place on an open plain with a dragon flying overhead. Could this be the moment (which was previously teased in a Season 7 photo) that shows Dany using one of her dragons to roast some Lannister soldiers?
In this scene, Jon's out of the cozy confines of Winterfell and back in his furs -- between his snuggly ensemble, frosty hair and the icy backdrop, it looks like he's north of the Wall again, ready to tackle the White Walkers.
Jon also gets the only new line of dialogue in the preview video, telling the other nobles, "yesterday’s wars don’t matter; the North needs to band together."
We also get a shot of the battle that takes place on Theon Greyjoy's ship -- here it looks like Theon and Yara are fighting other Iron Islanders, if not their uncle Euron himself.
Elsewhere, Dany is exploring a dark cave; the rock formations look similar to what we've seen of Dragonstone so far -- could she be searching for dragonglass, the only material aside from Valyrian steel that we know can destroy the White Walkers?
Is this Cersei's bedroom? The decor looks different from what we've seen of her chambers in King's Landing -- is it possible that she's at Casterly Rock, the ancestral seat of the Lannister family, which many believe will be the target of an Unsullied attack?
This is a shot of Brienne and Pod training in what looks like the courtyard of Winterfell. We're mostly just glad to see them.
Jaime and Bronn are back in action, marshaling the Lannister forces -- are they going to face off with Dany? That's a showdown we can't wait to see.
Game of ThronesSeason 7 premieres July 16 on HBO.
