The musician penned a New York Times op-ed in August 2004 detailing why he'd be voting for John Kerry that November, and in 2012 he voiced his support for President Barack Obama. He went on to discuss the elements of Trump's platform he deems most dangerous -- "white nationalism and the alt-right movement" -- before speculating on what he thinks is the candidate's appeal to voters.
"And Trump's thing is simple answers to very complex problems. Fallacious answers to very complex problems. And that can be very appealing."
As for his thoughts on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Springsteen kept it simple: "I like Hillary. I think she would be a very, very good president."
