With the triumphant return of Roseanne21 years after its last episode,MZ Generation Horny Sisters the world seems like it's primed and ready to take a look back to the past and reboot as many classic television shows as possible.
SEE ALSO: Roseanne Conner wasn't always a Trump supporter in the 'Roseanne' revivalThe world is in luck; there are already so many beloved (albeit mostly white) TV shows that are well on their way to getting rebooted, from 1980s staples like MiamiViceto the short-lived but transcendent '60s cartoon The Jetsons. Some have been greenlit, others have had pilots ordered, others are still in early stages of development, but they're all shows that we desperately want to see back on our screens.
Here's a running list.
Murphy Brownis coming back for a 13-episode season kicking off later in 2018 with the titular star Candice Bergen and creator Diane English coming back to undoubtedly bring down the house. The original series ran from 1988 to 1998, focusing on the investigative journalist and news anchor Murphy Brown and her show FYI, filled with political commentary that fans of the show would agree is much needed in today's political climate.
The CW may be bringing back Charmed, with the reboot's pilot having found its three leading actresses — Madeleine, Mantock, Melonie Diaz, and Sarah Jeffery. Charmedfirst aired from 1998 to 2006 on The WB, starring three magical sisters who try to live a normal life by day and fight demons by night. According to TV Line, the reboot is going to fierce, funny, and feminist: the three best things for a TV show to be.
The Jetsonsis a television anomaly, having only aired for one season in the early '60s and two seasons in the late '80s yet somehow being seen by almost everybody in America since then. This fact undoubtedly led to ABC's decision to order a revival of the series, except this time the futuristic family is going live-action and will be produced by Robert Zemeckis.
The unapologetically '80s crime drama Miami Vicemay be coming back to television this year with Vin Diesel executive producing alongside Fast and the Furious's Chris Morgan. Miami Vicefirst aired on NBC from 1984 to 1990 and had a huge impact on fashion with its stars' iconic T-shirt-under-blazer look, and is in development to return to NBC.
Inspired by the original Munsters series from the mid-'60s, The Munstersrevival is in the works at NBC, except this time the morose family of five is holding it down in modern-day Brooklyn instead of 1313 Mockingbird Lane. The reboot is being produced by Seth Myers and there are no details about its release yet.
The irreverent cartoon Animaniacsis being rebooted by Hulu, with the streaming service ordering two seasons in January. With executive producer Steven Spielberg, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will be returning to the world in 2020, 25 years after Animaniacs' final episode aired in 1995.
A sequel season of The L Wordis in the works at Showtime with the show's original creator and stars coming back to give the world an update on what the ladies have been up to. The L Word, which aired from 2004 to 2009, is a critically acclaimed show about a tight-knit group of lesbians, their community, and their relationships.
Magnum, P.I. is coming back with a pilot, and although it seems like it's sticking pretty close to the premise of the original show, nothing can replace Tom Selleck's unforgettable mustache. The CBS reboot has cast Jay Hernandez to play the lead — an ex-Navy SEAL who has moved onto work as a private investigator. Magnum, P.I.originally ran from 1980 to '88.
The Twilight Zone's blend of horror, science fiction, fantasy, and the human condition reshaped the way the world saw television when it aired on CBS form 1959 to 1964, and now it's coming back thanks to the streaming service CBS All Access. The Twilight Zonereboot is being executive produced by Jordan Peele, Simon Kinberg, and Marco Ramirez, and will be the third reboot of the series which saw new seasons in the '80s and early aughts.
Netflix is bringing back the classic 1960s space adventure show Lost in Spacethis spring. The revival will take a more updated look at the Robinsons and friends, a group of cosmic explorers traveling the universe searching for a new planet to call home. Starring Parker Posey as Dr. Smith, the Netflix reboot releases on April 13.
Don't get too excited about this one, but NBC's beloved series The Officemay get some new episodes for the first time since 2013. Multiple people including star John Krasinski have expressed interest in having a revival or at least a single-episode special, which absolutely no fans would ever say no to.
