Last weekend, Arkansas mom Belinda Hankins sent her 13-year-old daughter into the store to buy a box of tampons. Easy enough, right? You guessed it -- nope.

"They're here tucked away in a corner unlabelled," she finally said. "They labelled the tiny shelf of joint braces but not the massive aisle of stuff for your vagina?"
Hankins, in turn, used the perilous situation to start a conversation about period shaming and the patriarchy.
"Yes," she said. "Because there is NEVER a sign for that section. Vaginas are secret.
"I will tell you what my mother told me when I asked why society was unfair to women," Hankins added. "She said society is controlled by men, and they fear us because we are powerful."
