Dust off that PlayStation 5 because there are Room Girls Sex Skillfinally some new video games you can play on it.
Well, not immediately, but soon. Sony took about half an hour to showcase a bunch of upcoming PS5 games during a State of Play stream on Thursday. In total, 14 titles were shown, ranging from expected quantities to remakes and a couple of surprises here and there.
Here's everything Sony showed off.
First up was Concord, a PvP first-person shooter from Firewalk Studios. I'll cut to the chase: It looks like Overwatchmeets Guardians of the Galaxy.
By that, I mean it stars a bunch of over-the-top rogue-ish spacefarers with guns in 5v5 objective-based battles. There is no single-player campaign, but the game will be updated with weekly lore videos to theoretically keep players engaged in whatever is going on. There will be a beta on PS5 and PC in July, and the game launches on Aug. 23.
Remember God of War: Ragnarok? It's coming to PC on Sept. 19. Next!
Alright, now we're getting somewhere.
Dynasty Warriors: Originslooks to be a faithful follow-up to the long-running series that invented the "musou" genre of excessive hack-and-slash action games. For reference, even Nintendo has gotten in on the musou craze in the last decade with Hyrule Warriorsand Fire Emblem Warriors. Put simply, they're very fun and very dumb games about mowing through literally thousands of disposable weakling idiots at a time.
Dynasty Warriors: Originscomes out in 2025.
Infinity Nikki is, by a wide margin, the weirdest thing Sony showed on Thursday, but that's not a bad thing at all.
The TL;DR is that it's a new open-world sequel to a series of Chinese mobile games that are primarily about stylishly dressing up the main character. I'm not entirely clear on how open-world gameplay factors into that here, but at the very least, it looks like a refreshing break from games about running around and killing people. Count me in.
Coming to PS5 in 2025, Ballad of Antarais a neat-looking fantasy action game from TipWorks Studio. It's not super clear what's going on in the trailer other than you play as a character who seems to perpetually have a child on their back (even during big boss fights), but the combat looks slick and very Souls-like. Intriguing, if nothing else.
Behemothfrom Skydance is a new VR fantasy action game that will let you fulfill your dreams of hacking away at bad guys with swords and bows and arrows and everything else they use in fantasy fiction. If you've still got a PSVR2 lying around, you might as well give it a go when it launches this fall.
It's a first-person Alienhorror game in VR. That either sounds exciting or absolutely terrifying, depending on who you happen to be. The trailer doesn't show much, but you likely already know if you're into it or not.
Sony somehow found space for two Overwatch clones in one State of Play stream.
This one is at least third-person and features all your favorite Marvel heroes, though. Ruining someone else's day by repeatedly eliminating them as Venom could be fun. We'll find out during a closed beta test on PS5, starting in July.
Do you like wuxia martial arts action? Where Winds Meetfrom Chinese developer EverStone Studio might be up your alley.
Set in ancient China, Where Winds Meetis an open-world action game where you can do all kinds of graceful martial arts stuff to your enemies. The trailer only gave a tiny taste of what the game has to offer, but at the very least, it's cool to see more big-budget console games from Chinese developers come stateside.
Until Dawnwas a celebrity-filled horror choose-your-own-adventure game for PlayStation 4. It was a big hit. It's coming to PS5 and PC with enhanced visuals later this year. That's all that needs to be said about this.
Path of Exilehas accumulated a big fanbase (primarily on PC) in recent years thanks to its Diablo-like gameplay and intimidatingly large skill tree. Like, famously so. Look it up.
Anyway, the sequel is coming to consoles and will feature couch co-op, something that is sorely lacking from most modern console games. It launches in late 2024.
Silent Hill 2has been considered a psychological horror masterpiece and easily the best game in its series for two decades. This modern remake of it...well, I'll let you decide how it looks. All I'll tell you is that Silent Hillfans are broadly not real happy about it.
Capcom's venerable monster-slaying series is back and, as usual, the new one looks like it might kick ass.
To be more specific, it seems like this entry has more of an emphasis on story than Risedid, and it lookslike it's got a big old open world for players to explore. You can play by yourself or with friends, as always. If you've never tried a Monster Hunter, this will surely be a pretty good place to jump in.
Last and most definitely not least is Astro Bot, a fully fleshed out sequel to the PS5 pack-in game Astro's Playroom. It's an extremely cute 3D platformer starring a fun little robot who Sony definitely needs to adopt as a mascot yesterday. There look to be even more fun PlayStation cameos (PaRappa!) in here than in Playroom, and Sony confirmed this is a full-length game, unlike the two-hour experience that came with the PS5 in 2020.
Astro Botlaunches on Sept. 6.
