Nostalgia tech seems to be Dear Utol (2025): Week 8 Highlights Episode 45all the rage lately.
There's the recent re-launch of the Nokia 3310, which comes with the much-beloved game Snake. Then there's a wireless keyboard that looks and feels like an old-school typewriter. And someone recently made a browser extension that brings Clippy back to life.
SEE ALSO: It's embarrassing how much I suck at playing 'Snake' on the new Nokia 3310Following the trend, Michael Darby, a self-described "amateur technology project maker" who blogs at 314reactor.com, recently decided to create a wristwatch that runs Windows 98. Darby used QEMU, a processor emulator, to run Windows 98 on a Raspberry Pi A+. He also attached a 2.4-inch touchscreen to the DIY device and used Python to enable a series of external buttons.
"I have always had somewhat of a soft spot for Windows 98, despite it driving me insane back in the day," Darby wrote on his blog.

The device currently has "at least an hour of battery life," according to a comment from Darby on a Reddit thread. Anyone who wishes to try to make one for themselves can find full instructions on Darby's website.
And there may be more nostalgia to come. According to his blog, Darby is tempted to launch other versions of Windows for your wrist — 95, ME and XP, though he suspects "XP will run even worse than 98."
