Demi Lovato brought a special guest who's making empowering changes in politics to last night's 2017 American Music Awards.
The MZ Generation Horny Sisters"Sorry Not Sorry" singer brought Danica Roem, the first openly transgender state legislator as her guest.
She wanted to celebrate Roem's historic win with an invitation to the annual event. The Virginia Democrat defeated Republican Robert Marshall earlier this month.

"Danica put up with a lot of hate and bullshit by people who said she couldn't [win] but she did," she captioned on her Instagram after the show. "Her story is inspiring and I was proud to have her next to me before the performance for #sorrynotsorry which is an unapologetic anthem to all haters out there."
The singer doesn't shy away from standing for what she believes in. Last year Lovato was honored with GLAAD's Vanguard Award for being an advocate for LGBTQ rights and anti-bullying.
Lovato said the Virginia legislator-elect inspired the singer to have her in the audience for her performance. She felt they shared similar experiences when it came to bullying.
"We connected because I heard her story," Demi Lovato told E! News on the red carpet."She's actually the first out and seated transgender state legislator in American history and when I heard that I was just completely inspired by it."
The women teamed up to promote GLAAD's Together movement - a call to action for all underrepresented communities to stand up together.
"Demi Lovato and Danica Roem are two strong and inspiration women who embody the need for all Americans to stand together united and to take action today against any form of discrimination and oppression," GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis told HuffPost.
Ellis also highlighted how both women continue to fight for marginalized communities and bringing attention to the social issues that plague them.
Sounds like the AMAs was just the first of many power moves from the duo.
