The company will broadcast 15 college football games exclusively on the social network this fall, as part of its new original video push.

The exclusive broadcasts are the latest in Facebook's effort to bolster its original content, competing with the likes of Twitter, Amazon, and traditional TV networks. Earlier this month, Facebook announced Watch, a new premium video platform. Watch will feature original shows from dozens of publishers. These college games, produced by Stadium, also can be found in Watch and via Stadium's new Facebook Page dedicated to college football.
Sports have been a coveted area of content for tech giants to grab. Twitter debuted its live video initiative last year with 10 NFL Thursday Night Football games. This year, Twitter lost the digital rights to Amazon. Facebook has streamed other events, including 46 games from Mexico's top soccer league Liga MX.
Facebook's college football broadcasts won't be simply a broadcast of what viewers would typically see on television. Each one will have interactive elements that take advantage of Facebook's features, including live curated chat. A social production team and correspondents will be present at each game and work to engage the Facebook audience.
Stadium was created when Campus Insiders, 120 Sports, and The American Sports Network merged. The company is dedicated to live and on-demand games and events as well as original programming.
