Have a great philanthropy idea?Historical Archives Pitch Jeff Bezos.
The Amazon CEO posted on Thursday a request for pitches for a new philanthropic effort.

If anybody has the money and vision to start a game-changing non-profit, it's Bezos. As Bezos notes, he has made himself into one of the world's richest people by banking on the idea that planning for the long-term is better than trying to go for a short-term boost.
That, however, is not necessarily what he's looking for.
"I like long-term—it's a huge lever: Blue Origin, Amazon, Washington Post—all of these are contributing to society and civilization in their own ways," Bezos wrote. "But I'm thinking I want much of my philanthropic activity to be helping in the here and now—short term—at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact."
Bezos asked people to respond to the tweet with ideas. In about 15 minutes, he had received more than 300 responses.
Bezos currently sits on a net worth of almost $84 billion, making him the third richest person on earth, according to Forbes.
Other names around Bezos include Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Mark Zuckerberg—names that are active in major philanthropic efforts.
Bezos, on the other hand, hasn't been as keen to start giving away his fortune. He's not part of the Giving Pledge, in which billionaires pledge to give away half their net worth over the course of their life. Buffett, Gates, and Zuckerberg are all part of the pledge.
That's not to say Bezos hasn't participated in some philanthropy. He's given millions of dollars to cancer research and brain research, as well as education and the arts.
