Meanwhile, protesters around the country were less festive, taking to the streets to protest the president.

Protests were organized across dozens of cities for the holiday, the main theme being general opposition to Trump's policies, particularly his now-on-hold controversial travel ban.

Organizer Olga Lexell told CNN, "A lot of people are angry because he lost the popular vote and is ruling like somebody who won by a landslide."

More anti-Trump protests are planned for the future, too, with organizers from the successful Woman's March on Washington preparing for their "A Day Without A Woman" event on March 8 and others planning a large protest on Tax Day, April 15.
