It looks like we're going to be eroticizing helplessnessseeing the new Super Smash Bros.Switch game sooner than we thought.
SEE ALSO: Nintendo's 'Super Smash Bros.' has given me more joy than any other video gameNintendo announced Thursday that it will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament at E3 this summer, which means the world will be getting a pretty extensive look at the game on June 11 and 12. We'll likely be seeing at least portions of the upcoming Nintendo Switch Smashroster and hopefully more than one stage during the tournament.
When the new Smashwas first teased earlier this month, the only pieces of info Nintendo gave us were the characters Mario and Link and two Octolings from Splatoon, and a vague release window of 2018.
With the Super Smash Bros. Invitational coming in June, that probably means that Nintendo is planning on releasing some information around the game before then, maybe even some of the roster, new stages, and hopefully a release date. That is, if it's not already out by then.
The tournament at E3 is invitation-only, so don't expect to sign up and have a chance to get your hands on the game in Los Angeles this summer.
At this point, the tournament will be a good way to build hype around Smashand give fans something to look forward to while we sit here trying to figure who those characters are silhouetted in front of the Smash logo.
Nintendo will also be hosting a Splatoon 2tournament during E3 with qualifying teams.
