Snapping your friends is Watch Internal Affairs Onlinenow a bit more whimsical. If you're an Android user with the beta Snapchat app, that is.
An observant member of the Twitterverse noticed that Snap Inc. has rolled out a new feature further integrating Bitmoji into its service for some users.
Specifically, you can now plop friends' Bitmoji straight onto your home screen and tap the image to start a chat.
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
Fun, right? I mean, what better way to start a conversation that's going to end with someone vomiting rainbows than with a cartoon? (That was a rhetorical question. There is no better way.)
Bitmoji first appeared in Snapchat last summer after the not-a-camera company acquired Bitstrips earlier in the year. For those of you somehow unfamiliar with the little cartoon likenesses, the Bitmoji app allows you to essentially create "your own personal emoji," as the company puts it. You've probably seen them all over Instagram — those overly cheery drawings that look unsettlingly like your friends.
We reached out to Snapchat to try and figure out if this feature will ever make its way over to iOS, but have yet to hear back.
As for future Bitmoji integrations, maybe one day you'll be able to make your Bitmoji ride the rainbow your friend is puking. We can dream, right?
UPDATE: March 14, 2017, 10:06 a.m. PDT A Snap Inc. spokesperson confirmed to Mashablethat, as of today, the Bitmoji widget feature is available on both Android and iOS devices.
