【eroticism in early modern music review】

Got a brand new iPhone X,eroticism in early modern music review or perhaps fantasizing about becoming rich and buying one?

First thing you'll want to do is load it up with some apps that play nice with the device's notch.

Apps that haven't been optimized for the iPhone X will often look like crap -- Gmail, for example, ignores the screen's height and just places huge black bars on top and bottom.

Apple's App Store now has a "Looks great on the iPhone X" section, but the list isn't perfect (interestingly, Netflix is listed but I just couldn't get its videos to zoom in so they cover the entire screen).

Here's a list of some apps that trulylook great on the iPhone X's spectacular, 458 ppi, HDR, OLED, and -- yes -- notched screen.

1. YouTube

YouTube, which has been updated for the iPhone X but for some reason isn't mentioned in Apple's list, looks awesome. Once I went full-screen with a nice-looking music video, even the notch looked cool. Your mileage may vary, though, and you can pinch in to make the video slightly smaller and notch-proof.

2. Housecraft

Unfortunately, Ikea Place is still not updated for the iPhone X. You can still Ikea up your room with your beautiful, new, ARKit-capable phone, but it won't look as good as it should. Luckily, we have Housecraft, an augmented-reality app that also lets you adorn your room with virtual furniture by looking through your phone's camera. The app's interface fills up the iPhone X's entire, almost-bezelless screen, and the distance from augmented reality and actual reality has never been smaller.

3. Snapchat

Snapchat's iPhone X integration isn't perfect. You'll occasionally stumble onto some design elements that don't really respect the notch or just look odd. But Snapchat is worth a mention because Snap has big plans for the iPhone X's TrueDepth camera. Those features are currently in a very limited beta, but hopefully they'll trickle down to all users soon.

4. Medium

Popular publishing platform Medium doesn't offer great versatility when it comes to designing your blog post, but you have to admit that its default look is quite pretty on the iPhone X. It would be a shame to browse through all that wonderful content in a shrunken box; luckily the app has been updated to accommodate for the iPhone X's screen, and it looks great.

5. Halide

Halide, the crazy powerful camera app for photo enthusiasts, has been thoroughly updated for the iPhone X. According to the app's developers, it hasn't been easy -- every screen had to be redesigned from scratch -- but the end result is one of the best-looking camera apps on the iPhone X, and that includes the default one. Unlike most other apps on this list, the app's not free, though: it costs $4.99.

6. Numerical

Are you a calculator geek? While the iPhone's Calculator app doesn't look bad on the iPhone X -- it's just black around the notch area, so you don't notice it at all -- you have a snazzier choice in Numerical. It's a calculator with a much flashier look (you can even create your own themes), updated for the iPhone X. It also has a ton of options not present on the default iOS Calculator app, and it's free to use.

7. Instagram

Facebook's photo-sharing app has also been updated for the iPhone X. Since it's such a visual app, it benefits more from the update than Facebook. Pinch to zoom in on a photo, and it will cover the entire screen, top to bottom -- save for the notch. It'd still be cool if the photos wouldn't automatically zoom out as soon as you stop pinching, but I guess that (very obvious) "feature" will come in a future update.

8. The Witness

If there's one game you want to use to show off your new iPhone X's screen, it's The Witness. The visually stunning puzzler/adventure/transcendental journey that will change you forever has been updated for the iPhone X. Only when you see those beautiful landscapes superimposed onto reality with just ultra-thin bezels (ok, and the notch) separating the two, will you understand how this game was meant to be played. Be aware, though, the game comes with a pretty high price tag of $9.99.

9. Facebook

Pretty much everyone uses Facebook so it's not a surprise that the social networking behemoth jumped on the bandwagon early and updated its app for the iPhone X. The changes amount to moving things around a little bit so they don't interfere with the X-specific design elements, like the bottom bar. Since Facebook is so damn unavoidable in our everyday lives, it's good to see it work well with Apple's latest and greatest phone.
